Becoming Mrs. Trump
This September, Donald Trump, together with Melania Trump, was interviewed by the PEOPLE Magazine. “He came to the party with a date!” Melania explains. “I had heard he was a ladies’ man, and so I said, I’m not one of the ladies. He said later that he sent her to the ladies’ room so he could get my number. I was like, Oh what a sneaky way!”
Introduced at a party hosted by Paolo Zampolli at the Kit Kat Club during New York Fashion Week in 1998, Melania was 28 and Donald was 52 at that time.
During the party, Donald Trump gave Melania all of his numbers and she later called him when she returned from a modeling trip. This all happened only one year after Donald had split from his second wife, Marla Maples.
Six years after their first meet, Melania and Donald got engaged in 2004. Then, on January 22, 2005, this couple was married in a lavish, much-publicized ceremony at Donald’s luxury Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida’s Palm Beach. It was reported that Melania especially traveled to Paris in order to find the most fabulous wedding gown that money could buy before the wedding. It turned out that her $200,000 bridal gown from Christian Dior, designed by John Galliano, had one hundred yards of material, and took 550 hours to piece together. The veil alone was sixteen feet in length, the train thirteen feet long. It was said to be the most expensive wedding gown ever made at that time.
In 2006, Melania gave birth to a baby boy, whom the couple named Barron William Trump.
